Detailliert beschreibt sie die Abnabelung von zuhause, die ersten Schritte ins unbekannte Groรstadtleben und die schicksalshaften Begegnungen mit inzwischen historischen Persรถnlichkeiten der damaligen New Yorker Kรผnstlerszene, die ihre spรคtere Karriere als Autorin, Song-Schreiberin und Musikerin prรคgten. Mir imponierte der poetische Schreibstil und die bildreiche Sprache der Autorin. Ich fรผhlte mich in das Leben im NYC der 60er und 70er Jahre ein und lebte eine Weile im Chelsea Hotel. Ich nahm Teil, an den irdischen Ereignissen vieler Ikonen der Kรผnstlerszene dieser Zeit.
Die Lebensgeschichte von Patty Smith ist gleichermaรen tragisch wie amรผsant und auf jeden Fall fesselnd. Ich kannte die Sรคngerin nicht einmal als ich das Buch bestellte. Angesprochen hat mich vorallem das Cover und der Titel "Just Kids". Wer gerne in die Welt der 60/70iger Jahre eintaucht, fรผr den ist dieses Buch genau richtig.
